Terms of Service
Effective date: May 27, 2026
These Terms of Service govern your use of Guardian Alert, a personal safety check-in app that helps users schedule check-ins and notify trusted contacts if a check-in is missed.
Not an Emergency Service
Guardian Alert is a personal safety and accountability tool. It is not a 911 service, emergency dispatch service, medical monitoring service, or replacement for emergency services. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact emergency services directly.
Accounts and Sign-In
You are responsible for using an email address you control and for keeping access to that email secure. Guardian Alert uses sign-in links or sign-in tokens to authenticate users.
Check-Ins and Alerts
Guardian Alert sends alerts based on your saved schedule, alert settings, subscription or access status, and trusted contact consent status. You are responsible for keeping your schedule, contact list, and contact information accurate.
Delivery of alerts may depend on third-party networks, email providers, SMS providers, app stores, internet connectivity, device behavior, and other systems outside Guardian Alert's direct control. Guardian Alert does not guarantee that every alert will be delivered, read, or acted on.
Trusted Contact Consent
You may only add trusted contacts who you reasonably believe are willing to receive Guardian Alert notifications from or about you. Trusted contacts must consent before alert notifications are activated for them.
Contacts may decline, unsubscribe, opt out, or request that they stop receiving Guardian Alert notifications. You agree not to use Guardian Alert to harass, spam, threaten, impersonate, or mislead anyone.
SMS Terms
Guardian Alert may offer optional SMS text alerts for trusted contacts. SMS alerts are sent only after a contact consents to receive them. SMS consent is separate from email consent.
Message frequency varies based on the user's check-in schedule, missed check-ins, alert settings, and the contact's consent status. Message and data rates may apply. Contacts can reply STOP to opt out of SMS alerts and HELP for help.
Subscriptions
Paid access may be managed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or another supported billing provider. Store subscriptions are managed through the store account used to purchase them. Deleting a Guardian Alert account does not automatically cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to use Guardian Alert to:
- Send unwanted, abusive, deceptive, or unlawful messages
- Add contacts without a reasonable expectation of consent
- Interfere with the security or operation of the service
- Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems without authorization
- Use the service for emergency dispatch, medical monitoring, or unlawful purposes
Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how to contact us with privacy questions.
