Guardian Alert

SMS Consent

Guardian Alert SMS alerts are optional missed-check-in safety notifications for trusted contacts. A Guardian Alert user cannot consent to SMS alerts for someone else. The trusted contact must actively agree before Guardian Alert sends missed-check-in SMS alerts to that phone number.

This page shows the consent experience a trusted contact sees when they open a Guardian Alert SMS consent link.

How SMS consent works

  1. A Guardian Alert user adds a trusted contact in the mobile app.
  2. Guardian Alert does not send missed-check-in SMS alerts yet.
  3. The user shares a Guardian Alert consent link with the trusted contact.
  4. The trusted contact opens the consent page, reviews the SMS disclosures, checks the unchecked consent box, and presses the agreement button.
  5. Guardian Alert records the consent before any missed-check-in SMS alerts are sent to that phone number.
