SMS Consent
Guardian Alert SMS alerts are optional missed-check-in safety notifications for trusted contacts. A Guardian Alert user cannot consent to SMS alerts for someone else. The trusted contact must actively agree before Guardian Alert sends missed-check-in SMS alerts to that phone number.
This page shows the consent experience a trusted contact sees when they open a Guardian Alert SMS consent link.
How SMS consent works
- A Guardian Alert user adds a trusted contact in the mobile app.
- Guardian Alert does not send missed-check-in SMS alerts yet.
- The user shares a Guardian Alert consent link with the trusted contact.
- The trusted contact opens the consent page, reviews the SMS disclosures, checks the unchecked consent box, and presses the agreement button.
- Guardian Alert records the consent before any missed-check-in SMS alerts are sent to that phone number.
